In the International Congress Centre that opened its doors recently in Tashkent City, a festive occasion took place on October 21 in tribute to the thirtieth anniversary of granting the Uzbek the status of state language.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the event.

The head of our state congratulated the audience and by extension all the people of Uzbekistan on this significant date.

“Uzbek, one of the oldest and richest languages, is a symbol of national identity and independence, a grand spiritual value. Anyone wishing to feel the splendor, charm and wealth of our language, its infinite opportunities, may listen to the lullabies of our mothers, ancient dastans and makoms, songs of our hafizes and bakhshi,” the President suggested.

Uzbek is a major Turkic language. It is spoken by almost 50 million people around the world.

The totalitarian system saw attempts to displace Uzbek. But our people succeeded in carefully preserving the native language, the national pride. Owing to noble endeavors of the devoted intelligentsia, not indifferent to the fate of our language, the parliament passed a law on 21 October 1989 that afforded the Uzbek the status of state language.

Thirty years on, today, another historic step is taken: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree on measures to radically bolster the role and authority of the Uzbek as the state language. The document declares October 21 as the Uzbek language holiday in our country. The wider public, all the people of Uzbekistan took this news with great joy.

In his speech, the head of our state noted the need to further augment the standing of the state language in the life of society and upgrade the Law on State Language building on contemporary requirements. The President then outlined pressing issues in this area.

“We should consider our attitude to the state language as an attitude to our independence, while devotion and respect for it as devotion and respect for the Motherland. This should become the rule of our life,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. “And every one of us must start this noble effort from ourselves, from our family and our working team.”

The festive assembly was attended by deputies and senators, government members, state and public figures, the diplomatic corps, language scholars, teachers and youth.

The Ashgabat Summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States continued with negotiations in extended format.

The heads of state and government addressed a set of issues aimed at further expanding the multilateral cooperation, exchanged views on international and regional matters of common interest.

In his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for supporting the decision on the presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Commonwealth in 2020 and noted that the priority of our country’s chairmanship will be the consistent enhancement and amplification of the effectiveness of multilateral cooperation within the CIS.

Uzbekistan’s leader proposed to expedite the adoption of a new Concept for Further Development and the Commonwealth Economic Development Strategy through to 2030.

Particular attention will be paid to ensuring the full-fledged operation of the free trade zone, to deepening the production cooperation and exploring the markets of third countries, developing mutually beneficial forms of interaction, implementing innovative, scientific and educational programs.

The head of our state noted the importance of devising Priorities for the Promotion of Transport and Transit Corridors and the Concept for Interregional Cooperation for a ten-year period.

The first Forum of the CIS Regions is expected to be held in Uzbekistan next year, and it is also proposed to organize a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS Chambers of Commerce and Industry and, under its auspices, the Week of Business Initiatives of the Commonwealth.

Events related to information security issues are also planned as part of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Following the talks in the extended format, heads of delegations signed documents. A decision was reached to pass chairmanship in the CIS in 2020 on to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The participants inked also the Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation, and the Appeal of the Heads of CIS Member States to the peoples of the Commonwealth and the world community on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the 2020-2022 Program of Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism and Other Violent Manifestations of Extremism, as well as other documents.

Immediately upon arrival in Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The leaders of the two countries examined in detail the pressing issues of enhancing the mutually advantageous cooperation and identified priority tasks for the future.

Particular attention was paid to establishing business contacts at the level of leading companies and entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as the development of cooperation ties in industry, agriculture, transport and other priority sectors.

The heads of state agreed on the need to intensify the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission and organize visits of delegations from the regions of the two countries.

Ilham Aliyev congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Uzbekistan’s accession to the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States, noting that this will undoubtedly afford a new impetus to the enhancement of bilateral relations and regional cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The head of our state emphasized the high level of organization of the summit and wished the Azerbaijani side a successful presidency in the organization.

At the end of the meeting, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to furthering the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of centuries-old friendship and strategic partnership.

In the holy month of Ramadan, Uzbekistan has successfully conducted the humanitarian operation “Mehr” (Benevolence).

On the directive of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, 156 Uzbek citizens, mostly women and children, have been returned to homeland from the zone of armed conflicts in the Middle East. On May 30, they arrived in Tashkent on a special flight.

The government will provide with medical, psychological, material and moral assistance to these people who, due to delusion, had left our country and endured a difficult life period.

Necessary conditions will be delivered for their return to normal peaceful life and integration into society, access to educational and other social programs, including through the provision of adequate housing and employment.

On May 9, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Memory Square in the heart of capital Tashkent. The head of state laid a wreath at the foot of the Grieving Mother Monument and paid tribute to the memory of compatriots who sacrificed their lives in the name of peace and future generations.

The image of the Grieving Mother embodies all the pain and spoil of the war, and its tragic consequences. For it is mothers who bring up the defenders of the native land, and it is they who have the share of the most bitter trials of the war.

Today, our country enjoys peace and harmony. Children are healthy, and the souls of mothers are at peace of mind. By celebrating the 9th of May – the Day of Memory and Honor – we express our appreciation of these peaceful days, our aspiration to be friends and cooperate with all other nations, our desire to build a better future.

On this occasion, officials of various ministries and other government agencies as well as social organizations also laid flowers at the foot of the monument. The youth who came here honored the memory of fathers and grandfathers, those who fell in the name of these bright days; lessons learned about the value and significance of peace.

The festive event occasioned to the Day of Memory and Honor is due in the Tashkent Botanical Garden.

Charity Fair of Cultures in KNMU

On the initiative of the Student Self-Government Medical University, on May 3, the traditional festival “Culture Fair” was held.  This year, the annual cultural and educational event was supplemented by a charity fundraising for pupils of the orphanage No. 3 in the city of Kharkiv.

At the festival, students from 13 countries studying at Kharkiv National Medical University demonstrated the culture of their people.  Anyone could see the customs of representatives of such countries as Ghana, Nigeria, Vietnam, India, Lebanon, China, Egypt, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Greece and Ukraine.

The festival was opened by the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute for the Preparation of Foreign Citizens Dmitry Marakushin, who congratulated all the participants of the event.  “A very good tradition has developed at the Kharkov National Medical University – holding such a celebration of world cultures, student amateurishness, friendship and mutual respect for each other.  The university administration will always and in the future support festivals, will help strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between foreign students and citizens of Ukraine.  I wish you all good luck, inspiration, faith in yourself and all the best, ”said Dmitry Igorevich.

Larisa Karpova, Director of the Department of Science and Education of the Regional State Administration, congratulated the participants of the international forum: “Such festivals help popularize the unique cultural traditions of many nations of the world and familiarize themselves with the unique color of the ethnic environment of students who receive education in Ukrainian educational institutions, in particular, at Kharkov National Medical University.  Your intention to make this forum charitable is important. ”

Students from Uzbekistan with the support of the Uzbek National Center, as well as the Union of Students of Uzbekistan in Ukraine participated in the exhibition.  The coordinator of the Uzbek youth in Ukraine as well as the Chairman of the Union of Students of Uzbekistan in Ukraine Akhundzhanov Khumoyunmirzo thanked the university administration for the organizers of this event and sincerely congratulated all the participants of the event.

Guests of the event had the opportunity to get acquainted with the colorful outfit and try a variety of dishes from the national cuisine of each country.  Also during the event you could hear the folk motives of the represented countries and see the national dances.

The festival became a real platform for the intercultural dialogue of the medical university and brought together those who are not indifferent to a good cause – providing charitable assistance to the most vulnerable groups of society.
